02 · The lineage
Before it was AI work, it was human work.
The method did not begin as a product. It began with the problem of helping a person think a whole problem through—and with the conviction that software should augment human intelligence, not replace it.
1989 EOR established the foundation; 1992 LearnerFirst put structured questions inside the work; 1996 Knowledge Harvesting® made expert knowledge explicit; and in 2026 8 made the capture surface repeatable, with the professional instrument 96 in development.

The rules this work is held to.
- AI assists. It does not claim what only a person can know.
- Some of what matters most is known but not said.
- Make it visible without reducing it.
- Six of the eight ways of knowing, AI can deliver. Two, it cannot.
- Presence is open. Action is governed: the human decides.
Which two. The criterion is what requires a body and a personal past. Body and Story are the two. Their content is the having of a body and the having lived, so there is nothing to hand over. The other six, Awareness among them, can be set out as information. And information is not knowing: that limit falls on all eight.
The limit under all of it. Sat, cit, ānanda: being, knowing, joy. The instruments reach cit, and only cit. Being and joy are delivered by no method. Mokṣa is release, from √muc, to loosen. Nothing is added. The reduction is what binds, and a method that compresses knowledge to fit its container adds a covering while claiming to remove one. Joy is not on the far side of the loosening. It is what the covering covered.
